Reishi Mushroom Tea

INGREDIENTS

  • 1-2 teaspoons of dried reishi mushroom slices or 1-2 reishi mushroom tea bags

  • 1 cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy)

  • 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup (optional)

  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Mushrooms

  1. Rinse under cool water

  2. Cut into thin slices or small chunks

  3. If you'd like to brew your tea pre-strained, place your reishi mushrooms into a tea bag or infuser ball (not required). 

  4. Set to the side

Brew the Tea

  1. Fill a pot with purified water and bring to a gentle boil

  2. Reduce heat to low and add your Reishi (can drop your mushrooms in loose or in the pre-prepped tea bag. 

  3. Allow to simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes. 

  4. Strain the tea into a mug.

Prepare the Tea

  1. In a separate small saucepan, heat milk over low heat until warm (do not boil).

  2. Whisk the warm milk vigorously until it becomes frothy (a milk frother can make this easier).

  3. Add the frothed milk to the mug, stirring gently to combine.

  4. Add honey or maple syrup and cinnamon, if desired.

  5. Serve hot.
